CLIMATE NOMADS – a multisensorial nature installation at Art Basel in Basel 2024
For the fifth time Enzo Enea is sending a powerful signal at Art Basel with his new intervention, raising awareness of issues such as climate change, biodiversity, resilience and sustainability and anchoring them at the heart of the art world.
CLIMATE NOMADS is not only a green regeneration zone, shady meeting point and outdoor lounge in the centre of the art fair, but also a statement at a time when climate change is becoming one of the most pressing challenges of our generation.
The title not only refers to the migration of southern plants triggered by the consequences of climate change, but also offers a glimpse of the Mediterranean-influenced future landscapes of Central Europe. CLIMATE NOMADS, the new ‘climate garden’ by Enzo Enea, offers a multi-sensory experience this year with temperature-resistant Persian ironwood trees, Scots pines, cork oaks and southern shrubs and aromatic plants. The garden draws attention to climate change and impressively visualises the current ecological challenges and their future effects. ‘As a landscape architect,’ says Enea, ‘I am a visionary and a botanist.’
