        Tito Agnoli

        Mod. BP3 Garden Armchair | Italy, 1959

Giovanni (Gio) Ponti was born in Milan in 1891 and studied architecture at the Polytechnic. After serving in World War I, he worked as artistic director for the prestigious Richard-Ginori ceramics company. Between 1923 and 1927, he collaborated with architects Mino Fiocchi and Emilio Lancia. In 1928 he founded both his own architectural firm and the famous magazine Domus. With the publications in Domus – and later with those in Lo Stile, which he also founded and published from 1941 to 1947 – Ponti influenced international design preferences for more than 50 years.
