NATURE AND ART DELIVER AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Since 2013, Enzo Enea has been collecting contemporary art, which is exhibited at the Tree Museum. Each of his works is related to nature and the environment, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between man and nature and seek solutions for this interaction’s future design.
In 2019, international attention was triggered by the collaboration on FOR FOREST, Austria’s most significant art installation in public space, in which 299 trees, up to 14 meters high, were set up in the Wörthersee football stadium to form a mixed forest.
In the same year, Enea began a partnership with Art Basel and presented the nature installation “Use and Abuse.” The roots of eight olive trees, up to 1000 years old, were symbolically laced with a tethering technique and placed in the exhibition hall. This installation questioned the relationship between ecology, man and nature. The collaboration with the world’s most important art fair continued in 2022, and in 2023, Enea presented “Treetopia” − a forest of the future in the central circular courtyard of the fair. This large-scale installation pointed to the kind of trees that will be resilient to global warming in the next 20 years − the growing season of a tree – and are destined for the continental climate. Enea’s message is simple: we can save ourselves if we save the trees.
