Private Oasis overlooking Lake Zurich

A young couple with kids wanted to bring their outdoor terrace to life and create a high-quality outdoor space that could be used by the whole family. It was important to create a modern and harmonious atmosphere that responds to the situation on site: generous window areas offer an excellent view of the entire terrace and enlarge the family’s living space to the outside, while partition walls and plants create privacy where it is needed.

The terrace underwent a remarkable transformation, resulting in a multi-functional area that cleverly incorporated various elements. Thoughtfully selected furniture effortlessly blended with the natural surroundings, creating an appealing aesthetic. Dedicated sections were designed for dining and relaxation, ensuring optimal functionality and comfort. An outdoor kitchen was strategically positioned, offering convenience while enchanting bamboo grass served as a picturesque backdrop, exuding serenity and a welcoming atmosphere. The addition of a captivating water fountain added an element of tranquillity, elevating the overall ambiance of the terrace.

The thoughtful use of yew waves provides an evergreen frame and screens adjacent buildings. Japanese maples were strategically placed to frame the mesmerising views and create charming focal points. A niche with lounge seating was incorporated into the lush greenery, offering a tranquil place to relax and enjoy the view.

Planting was mindfully used to protect the intimate dining area from strong, evening winds. Understory plants such as purple top vervain, fountain grass and large panicle hydrangeas were carefully selected to add beauty and seasonal interest.
